Media Literacy Training Sessions

Professional development on media literacy and our new middle school curriculum, Screenshots.

Social media has an enormous influence on middle school students. It shapes their perceptions on everything from relationships to substance use. When students are media literate, they can create positive social connections with digital communities and build empathy that can help to diffuse conflict both online and in face-to-face interactions. This training provides educators with the tools and resources to build these media literacy skills in the classroom.

Coming to a School Near You

Thanks to the NH Department of Justice, we are offering online workshops for K-12 teachers. In these sessions, we share the latest insights on how media impact student performance, peer-to-peer communication, and health outcomes. Educators also receive the curriculum and other educational resources to facilitate classroom instruction.

We are in the process of finalizing our 2021 workshops and online events. If you are interested in either hosting a training at your school or being notified if a training is scheduled in your region, please email our Education Program Manager, Claire Garand, at claire.garand@mediapoweryouth.org. In the meantime, please check out our youth resources page for educational videos and other content to support remote learning during COVID-19.
